Review on Nikon COOLPIX L810 Digital Camera: 16.1MP, 26x Zoom, NIKKOR ED Glass Lens, 3-inch LCD (Blue) by Janis Bike ᠌

A little bit not what I expected, generally fine.

As I wrote above - a very small matrix with a huge number of megapixels. The result is a huge graininess even in daylight and sunlight. However, if you are not going to print pictures in large formats, you should not be afraid - after all, all of the above is noticeable only at the micro level, when viewing the picture at high magnification. Whereas with the macro parameters of the image - exposure, color reproduction, saturation, depth of focus - things are going well. Verdict: The modest functionality of the camera is offset by the presence of a powerful zoom lens. This is the strongest point of the Nikon L810. Both in terms of the width of the range, and the presence of a very wide angle in the range (from 23 equiv. Mm). It will do for macro and portraits, but for something more, a good matrix inside the device is clearly not enough. The new firmware 1.01 does not save the situation. I advise you to look at the more powerful model Nikon P500 or P510.

Pros
  • *High magnification zoom 26x. *Presence in the zoom range of a very wide angle - from 22.5 eq. Mm. *Optical image stabilization (on lens shift). *High resolution monitor 921000 dots. *The original control is the zoom lever on the lens barrel. *D-Lighting function, brightening too dark areas of the image. * HD video recording with stereo sound (however, only 1280x720, not Full HD). * The presence of a special button for video recording. * Optical zoom works when shooting movies (rather quiet). * Optical Image Stabilizer works when shooting movies. *There is the possibility of minimal editing of videos. * Powered by AA format elements - a plus for supporters of such a solution.
Cons
  • *The monitor is fixed. *No connector for external flash. *No A-S-M exposure modes. *Only one focus area - in the center of the frame (there is also a face detection function). *No support for RAW format. *No histogram - not during shooting, not even in playback mode. *No exposure bracketing or other types of bracketing. *The ISO range is not wide, and even at low ISOs, noise reduction artifacts are expressed in the image. *No adjustment of image parameters (sharpness, contrast, noise reduction intensity). *There is no popular feature - shooting panoramas with auto stitching. *Virtually no digital effects, filters or other image transformation options. *No shooting information is displayed in playback mode. *No orientation sensor, images must be rotated manually for viewing. *When the camera is mounted on a tripod, access to the batteries and memory card is blocked.
