Mine was sold by Revain's Cute Gift Store in a box with a picture printed on it (see customer pictures to the right of the reviews). I paid 10.95. First let me say that this is NOT the case. It is not intended for accurate measurement of small volumes such as B. wooden discs, or where precise measurement with hard edges is required. To do this, purchase shorter steel rules with a hooked edge (sometimes referred to as a zero hooked edge), a curved, long projecting capacity (10-11 feet), and cleat markers. Some even have 16-inch spacing, but if you ask some pros, they'll say it's not necessary; Just measure between steps. This is a 30m tape measure made in China (as it says on the box). The body is made of ABS plastic. The coil has a metal winding attached to a molded plastic spool (this is normal, see next paragraph). It includes a detachable strap for attaching to your belt or for holding the case while you pull out the strap. The case diameter is 6 inches. The ribbon is half an inch wide. The tape is made of thin fiberglass (think of a seamstress' tape measure used to measure inseam/waist). If you want to see customer pictures to the right of the reviews and move on to the next paragraph or read all that boring stuff. The surface is white with imperial (feet) increments of one-eighth of an inch in red, with each foot being black on one side, and metric (meter) increments of one-fifth of a centimeter in black with each meter in red on the other side. They display numbers as follows: in imperial 1-11 1F, 1-11 2F etc. and in metric 1-9 10 (as in centimetres), 1-9 20 and so on up to 1-9 90, 1 - 9 1m etc. Mine was 100ft 7in total. The metric side ended with an imprint at 30 meters and 11 centimeters, leaving a blank band (just over a foot). Detaching (pulling out) and removing the spool was smooth and easy. Wrapped loosely, I saw a slot on the inside of the case to insert more tape, so the tape is unlikely to stick like many of the cheap steel tapes I've used over the years. So I don't see it stretching easily. So I agree with the plastic spool. I'm replacing a steel tape with a plastic spool and the rewinder broke the plastic spool trying to rewind it. This is ideal for light use. This is more for field distance measurements, patio foundations, etc. for the DIYer on a budget, especially if you don't need open coil measurements. Brittle steel straps are more durable, stretch less over time, but are also more likely to rust, get stuck in cases, cut your fingers, smack your face when you roll them up, make that awful whipping noise (oh that awful whipping noise). Noise - and spanking - is bad too).
