Review on Enhanced Security with Kryptonite R2 2.4mm Retractor Combo Cable Bike Lock by Jermaine Shuster

I bought this lock after looking around for two specific uses: 1) when I want to drive long distances and travel light and 2) when I run errands I travel everywhere by bike and I love this lock when I have to leave my bike for a very short time. This is not a security lock and will not deter a serious thief; However, this prevents someone from simply taking the bike because it is there and available. I also love using shared bikes for the same purpose. Features: - height and weight; it fits easily in a fanny pack and is lightweight; love it - cord length; 3 feet allow you to go through the frame, front wheel and shield or post; I wouldn't buy any shorter. This lock design is ingenious because the cable retracts. HOWEVER, mine got stuck about 2 feet for a couple of weeks (the foot was locked, it didn't quite straighten out). I figured it was just twisted and stuck in the case or something, but nothing I did helped. In the end I just pulled harder and it worked. combination/instructions; Easy to use. The design of the wheels feels good; I can use it with liner gloves, which is very useful in winter. lock unlock; that's his weakness. I've been having trouble with this for a few months. The fit of the cable end and the lock seems a bit loose and it was very difficult to push inward to get it to snap into place. I have oiled it and never used the lock roughly. About a week ago I found that unlike my previous editions, when it worked fine under all circumstances, it just closed when I had a combo displayed. It used to close regardless of the numbers displayed. When I discovered this, it became easy to use again; I would close it and spin the wheels. LAST NIGHT was the last straw; he refused to unlock. I played around with this for about 15 minutes and couldn't figure out what to do. Finally, I pressed the release button firmly against the bike's frame and it popped open. Today I submitted a support request using Kryptonite. So I'm giving it 4 stars because it does its job very well. I don't know if the quality is bad or if I got a lemon but for the price it's worth it. I would happily pay more for better quality. Its quality is sufficient. If you have a problem with blocking/unblocking, open a support ticket immediately. don't try to solve it like me; I'm grateful I didn't have to cut it in the end.
