This lock will not stop a thief, the best you can hope for is that it will make an adventurous thief decide to walk past it. The lock is cheap but easy to install and lockable. Personally I will use it on a motorcycle trunk, but I will also have a powerful lock with an alarm on the motorcycle. Loved it! Took it to the Caribbean to lock up our bag while snorkeling/diving. Don't worry in the world. We even kindly let a couple looking for chairs use the two we had secured, knowing they wouldn't be able to go through our belongings. Palm sized, fits easily in a jersey or saddle bag. Pretty easy. It was very easy to set up the combo and easy to use. If you want something small enough to always have a bike handy, minimal security to prevent opportunities for crime during a short stop, then something like this is the answer. The downsides are that only the 4 digit code is pretty easy to crack. Effort, and a flimsy cable or mechanism won't be difficult for a thief to crack with a few tools. I bought this lock after looking around for two specific uses: 1) when I want to drive long distances and travel light and 2) when I run errands I travel everywhere by bike and I love this lock when I have to leave my bike for a very short time.
