I purchased this product as a fire treatment (Shou Sugi Ban) for wood for preservation and aesthetics. This torch does an excellent job of burning large areas of wood in a short amount of time, which is my intention of using it. I haven't used it extensively, so I can't comment on things like product lifespan or propane usage rates. One note I have is that despite the adjustment knob there doesn't seem to be any fine adjustment for the flame size. That means I get a huge blue flame with an adjustment knob that barely opens I wouldn't dare open it any further and I have some concerns about burning some wood due to lack of control. So be careful when using this product as it is unrelated to the smaller propane torches used for plumbing etc.
