Review on πŸ”§ Efficient Air Caulking: Chicago Pneumatic CP9885 Unleashes Superior Performance by Ken Beasom

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good tool for little money or handguard in a small space

I'm too old to keep squeezing the grip of a caulking gun. I originally thought of the battery, but why? They last 2x, 3x or 4x what they cost and you just know that not using them will drain the batteries. I have read reviews of this and seen some say it was an air leak and that is normal with this pistol. If it leaks air that is used to pressurize the chamber with a sealing hose, how can that be normal? I'll try for $40. True to other reviews, it lost a lot of air. As far as it affected the operation of the weapon. Ideally, there should be several seals at the top. Easy to fix. I put a rubber washer around the top of the sealant cartridge and wrapped a fair amount of teflon tape around the threads the cap screwed onto. Problem solved and now everything works great. I used a fairly thick lexel gasket that was about 50 feet out. I bumped my compressor up to 40psi and adjusted the bead with the adjuster that came with it. I would give this 5 stars if they weren't cheap and didn't include a much needed gasket or gasket. Penny-pinching can sometimes come back to bite you in the ass. If they came with a machine-threaded lid and a simple gasket, it would be great out of the box. I would pay an extra €5 for that. But a bit of teflon tape and a washer and you're done.
