I got mine as a gift about 5 years ago and she recently passed away. Fresh batteries didn't revive him. HOWEVER, it held up well over this long period of high tide with small incremental adjustments months apart and with only a few batteries. I'm looking to buy another one and was surprised by the negative reviews suggesting there are some bad apples in the batch but THIS IS MADE IN CHINA so it's come a long way for what it's worth. I'm lost here on the South Carolina coast without him! The one I bought shows the time well from June 17, 2013. I REALLY keep it in.
