Review on Junction Adjustable Eyeball Security Cameras by Jesus Olsen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Fix problems with wrong size screws and gaskets and you will have a good product.

This is a good product but it has 2 major drawbacks. Firstly, the supplied screws to attach the camera base to this box are not long enough, I believe the supplied screws are 3/4" long. They need to be at least 1" long to accommodate the most common IR dome cameras on the market to be able to. I have bought several of these bases twice. The previous generation or series of these screws had longer screws. Something has changed along the way. The screws you need to buy are metric, M4-0.70 x 20, matched the threads on this box. It cost me an extra $20 for the 8 boxes I used (stainless steel screws). If you try to use the included 3/4" screws, they aren't long enough to to fit through the base of the camera and into the threaded holes in the box. Buy some 1" screws. Another problem is that the spacer is too small. The box's weather seal should extend beyond the box and device agents to ensure a good watertight seal. This spacer is too small in circumference and doesn't fit properly between the box and the camera base. In fact, it can be easily removed in the box when wiring. Not a good design. A bit of silicone on the outside of the box solves the water ingress problem, but again at an additional cost. The seal must be 1/8-1/4 inch larger in diameter to function properly. The metal box itself is not very high quality. The remaining 2 issues need to be fixed/solved.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
