Review on Enhance Your Edge with Kuromaku Ceramic Whetstone - Medium Grit for Superior Sharpening by John Douglas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Inexpensive intermediate/universal plaster.

Shapton Kuromaku 1kis a good intermediate stone for removing deep grooves on diamond plates or coarse (100-300) stones. There seems to be some metal shavings in the slurry along with some abrasive, but it's a wear-resistant stone. Spray on and go and good enough for me. It doesn't charge at all, if it "charges" then rubbing it with bare skin or a sponge will cause the metal to fall off immediately. I still have to level mine. It slightly changes the angle of the blade, but requires more effort and time than a rough stone. It does this in a "safe" way that doesn't leave deep scratches, but I usually use the King Deluxe 300 safe and then the Shapton Kuromaku 1k. Get 2,000 and/or 5,000 if you try to achieve a high gloss finish.
