The metal is thick enough that even thick blackout curtains will not sag the rod. Very neutral; a satisfactory balance between cheap and good. If you don't want the cheapest option (folded metal completely hidden behind a curtain) or your heart is set on a special, intricate finish (those types of ends don't unravel!), then this is the option for you. Selling your home and want it looking fresh for staging so your heart/wallet doesn't break if you have to (by law, at least in NYC) leave the windows behind, choose this!
