I finally found what works for me

WHY I WAS SEARCHING FOR THIS TYPE OF DEVICE: I live in a remote rural area where only incredibly slow DSL or satellite is used to access the Internet. I have a Sprint MiFi Hotspot (Franklin Wireless r850) with unlimited internet, but the signal in my house is spotty at best. I received the average measured RSSI value of -82 dB when the access point was in the best place in my house. This allowed (again measured on average) 2.5 Mbit/s down and 1.6 Mbit/s out (compared to my old AT&T DSL with 1.3 Mbit/s down and 0.2 Mbit/s down). Unfortunately, The signal was so bad that it often dropped out. So I knew I needed a cell phone signal booster. WHAT I TRYED: I bought another room booster from competitor SureCall but it didn't do much. I contacted this competitor (excellent customer service) and was told their gear didn't work well with some Sprint models. In fact, they recommended looking at SureCall devices. MY RESULTS WITH SURECALL: I purchased an EZ 4G booster kit and upon arrival placed the receiver in the same spot where my access point received the best signal. I placed the repeater downstairs (about 30 feet away) and my RSSI went from -82dB to -52dB! I thought it was a coincidence so I've been constantly testing the signal and speed for the past few days. The signal oscillated from -55dB to -51dB all the time and I ran speed tests every 5 minutes for 4 days via testmy.net. My current average speed over this period is 5.1Mbps and 2.2Mbps up. For me this is a huge improvement! Of course, everyone will have different results, but I am very happy with this purchase.

Pros

Cons
  • Not bad, but...
