The power button can and will get stuck if you're not careful how you press it. If you push it too far to the right or left, the power button will remain depressed (or stuck). This will result in motherboard not booting properly after previous shutdown and your motherboard will be hard booted on next startup. When this happened to me, I thought there was a problem with my RAM, CPU, or motherboard, and it took me a while to locate the culprit behind the case's stuck power button. I suspect there was some sort of QA issue causing the switch to get stuck in the "pressed" position.
