Review on KaZAM v2e Balance Bike, Promoting Pedal-Free Learning by Andres Callahan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

4-year-old now rides normal bike, so learning is fun

My child turned 4 in October. We gave her this bike for Christmas. She drove it 10 minutes every week when we took the garbage to the curb. At first she mostly walked with him between her legs, especially uphill. She later switched to pushing with one foot. After about 5 months she was able to fully regain her balance and plucked up the courage to conquer several hills in our area. I really felt like she needed adult help/support. She accelerated so fast that I couldn't walk. (I jog at about a 7 minute pace, but she backs away from my sprints) She only had two falls on this bike, both because she was going so fast she couldn't turn. That thing has no brakes. At six months we decided to buy her a bike with training wheels. We first put the training wheels on blocks to raise the rear wheel and turned it into an exercise bike. She practiced kicking like that for a day before we put it on. It took her 2-3 weeks to get used to pedaling. Once she was comfortable I raised the training wheels 3 inches off the ground. A week later I dropped her. It's been 7 months since she got a balance bike, I've spent less than 10 minutes a week riding her, 2 minor falls (no tears), no bloodshed, and now she proudly rides her bike with no training wheels. on level ground. I never had to walk with her to keep her vertically balanced just to be close enough to give direction, maintain and sometimes correct steering or speed. catch you I was initially skeptical about this bike, but I'm very happy with the results we've had with it. I felt a bit uncomfortable buying a bike on such short notice, but it made learning fun and easy, so it was worth it. (My 25 year old sister still can't ride a bike because she had a bad learning experience and stopped cycling). We plan to use it with the next child.
