When you take your car to a garage for an oil change, the oil filter is always tightened. The oil filter tool is supplied lubricated and shrink-wrapped. So if you're worried about getting your hands dirty, use gloves. When turned clockwise, the oil filter tool expands 4 inches in diameter to grip your filter. Don't forget to place an oil pan under the oil filter to catch any oil left in the filter when you remove it!
