I am a weaver, so I am very familiar with wool (some of which have no odor, others have quite strong odors).Because I also am a quilter, I really wanted a larger mat for a different station in my studio. I love the larger size. I have one smaller similar mat (different brand) that I love, odor free. But there is definitely a strong aroma to it when applying heat, and it is really bad when using steam. When it is cool and dry (not in use), it has no odor at all. I can live with it, but I wish I didn't have to.I am contemplating taking it to a drycleaner to see if that helps, or maybe soaking it in vinegar or lemon water. It has been my weaving experience, though, that some wool just holds the fragrance of its origin and nothing can remove it.I have asked my weaver friends for advice, but would love to hear any advice from Ebay shoppers.
