Review on 🌬️ Noctua NH-D9DX i4 3U, Premium CPU Cooler for Intel Xeon LGA20xx (92mm, Brown) - Ideal for Improved SEO by Joel Young

Revainrating 5 out of 5

LGA-1366 History "Holes "

The LGA-1366 socket actually comes in two versions. One has an actual CPU cooler mount. The other only has four holes in the motherboard. If the socket has a CPU cooler mount, the Noctua NH-D9DX i4 3U will work right out of the box. If there are only four holes, the Noctua NM-i3 mounting kit is required. This also applies to any other compatible socket with only four CPU cooler holes. You can get the mount for FREE from Noctua Support by presenting proof of purchase of this cooler. At the time of my purchase, this information was not on the Revain list. However, it was available on the Noctua support site. A NOTICE. You will need access to the back of the motherboard when installing the NM-i3 mounting kit backplate. If your computer case has a large cutout behind the processor, installing the back panel is easy. However, if this is not the case, the main circuit board must be removed. This requirement does not only apply to Noctua. I have an original i7-920 on an ASUS P6T with a 4-hole LGA-1366 connector. The original INTEL cooler came with the processor and just plugged into the holes. Recently, with heavy games, the processor reached the mid-80s. I bought a Noctua NH-D9DX i4 3U to keep the temperature down. With Noctua installed, my operating temperature is 20-25 degrees cooler. The highest temperature jump was only 59Β°C. I would give the cooler 5 stars but Noctua did not list the need for an NM-i3 mounting kit in their Revain list. I hope this review will help others save themselves the trouble of figuring out post-purchase requirements.
