Like most, I'm here because my door lock has stopped working. After much digging, it seemed very likely that the engine was fouled or burned out. I bought this part because I didn't want to disassemble the car, try to fix something and then it wouldn't be a solution. $5 motor (link below) + $35 insurance part (this part) is still less than a $250 OEM part or a $500 rebuild from it. And that's why I have pictures to show! For the most part, both the OEM and GledewenDirect parts were identical. The only complaint I had after taking it apart was that the midsection is all plastic while the OEM is metal. This piece moves back and forth every time you lock and unlock it, so it moves a lot. - The electronic parts didn't hold up very well at all. (not a big deal as the case is pretty tight) - The plastic (body and all) appeared to be cheaper plastic if that makes sense, so it's more brittle. - No foam around the part where it touches the car. Not sure if it makes a difference but I'm sure it helps isolate some hits etc. All in all I'm sure this will work for a few years. The motors appear to be identical so that's just the rest. I swapped out my motor in mine and will do it again if that happens and for the rest of the doors too. Something in the mid-section of these aftermarkets doesn't seem to last that long. I wish more people would open them to take pictures of the broken ones. But you pay $35 for this part and you can buy 8 at OEM price. Of course, if the OEM was great, you would never have to replace it. So what's the best solution here? Whatever is best for you!
