These differ from regular CDs in that the top (label surface) is varnished rather than having an outer layer of media used for labeling. It's completely empty; very smooth and shiny - you need to use a marker like Sharpie to write on the surface. And it collects fingerprints very easily. But if you can keep it clean it's a great looking product. The result after burning is good - when checking the quality of a disc (like an audio CD) there are occasional errors that are eliminated by the correction algorithm, but that's my typical experience. I've burned about 50 so far and none have failed.
