Perfect for kayaks best in my review

First impression, HOLY SMOKE IT'S BRIGHT! This is the 1 mile version. Definitely will not need the 2 miles. My friends indicated he could see my kayaks' lights beyond 2 miles, but at a 30° from shore, rather than a high speed boat. Now, heed your attention when people indicated this light is not certified by USCG as the official navigation lights for boats. It can be used as secondary visual enhanced light. With that being said, other navigation lights that were certified by the USGC cannot be mounted on kayaks properly, so, they are useless for our safety. The green LED strip sure attract quite a bit of aquatic inhabitant during a new moon, whereas the red surely attract gnats and mosquitoes in freshwater. Just a warning.Pros:At a influx between 0.75A (only as 12-in strip) to 1.15A (both 12-in strips draw at the same time), it's not the most efficient power LED light strips on the market. One strip will yield great brightness, but 2 strips dull a bit from a 12V 12AHr source, without any other component running. I've included a side-by-side comparison to the 6-LEDs marine side markers (on the grey kayak), which draw 0.115A per 6-LEDs. I have a total of 6 of the 6-LEDs side markers, enough to be seen by boats at 1 mile away, but decided to add extra safety measure for those days were boat drivers are a bit tipsy under the influence.Installation was a breeze. Drill a small hole, the adhesive allowed me to stabilize the strip as the strip hugged the odd curvature of the kayak, and adding clear marine adhesive around the strip to ensure proper water sealing, and prevent the strip from coming off the polyethelyne materials. Without the marine adhesive, the adhesive will come off quite quickly, after exposing to the ambient heat (90°F) for more than 6 hours. No more peeling issue after the marine adhesive was used.Kudos on the extra mounting kit materials. Plenty of small screw (a bit short), heat shrink sleeves, electrical joiners, and clear plastic fasteners. I have yet to see any company provided the full set for this price. I always have to buy my own extras. So far, so good. No intrusion of water into the LED strip, after facing splashes as the kayaks dove into the waves generated by high wind, and tall wakes caused by fast boats.Con:Like those before me indicated, the adhesive backing is not as good expected, even when you follow the installation to the exactness of the description. I ensure the contact points were well cleaned, and properly primed. Surely enough, one day on the water exposed the sun (with at least 7 days of cure time for the adhesive once it was bonded to the hull), the strip started to peel. Additional adhesive is needed.
