Review on Pedal Commander - PC38: Ultimate Throttle Response Controller for Toyota Tacoma (2nd & 3rd Gen), all Models (2005 and newer) by John Springer

Great product, does exactly as advertised.

This is a great product and works exactly as advertised. My new TRD Pro Tacoma is great in every way, but it's a city dog that's always trying to get out of the way. I do a lot of "fast" city driving and need to dash in and out of traffic. Tacoma is no good for that. Don't let others say "then just step on the pedal", it's the same (it's not). It's stupid and not realistic for everyday driving. Even if you step on the pedal, you're still waiting for the motor to respond. It would be a terrible way to drive every day. Pedal Commander (set to Sport +3 for me) is perfect. This makes the accelerator pedal (and the response time) "sensitive" like a small car. Actually, when pulling out of a parking space, I have to be careful that I only bump lightly to drive off, otherwise the truck jumps. that the gas pedal is 100% more touch sensitive, making the engine (and truck) more responsive. It works well and installs in 15 minutes without tools. The only complaint I had was the lack of instructions on how to unplug the existing accelerator pedal connector. It's one of those things when you're lying on your back with a flashlight in your mouth and you don't know how to unplug it. And you know from experience that if you force it down you'll probably bust the damn thing and have no gas pedal. Connector, and knowing that, the Connector immediately popped up for me. But they could really point you in directions. The rest of the installation is not difficult.

Pros
  • Ease of Use
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
