I never had a particular need or need for anything like this until I started putting together a small work station and realized that the fence on my table saw wasn't in the position it was always evenly fixed from front to back, and he only had a tape measure across the front. I had to find a way to attach a second tape measure to the back of the table so I could see and be sure the railing was the same on both sides. Simply measuring one side or the blade etc gave me no confidence that when the tape was applied the result would be accurate. I had to measure at least two points at a time and then I found blocks 1, 2, 3. I just put one on the front of the blade and the other on the back of the blade and brought the fence to them and blocked it. From the front band it measured almost a perfect 3 inches so I marked it and attached the second band to the back of the table. I don't think I would have that much confidence without those blocks. Sizes. And for the price too, compared to what I've seen on many others, they were a bargain.
