7.3 Heavy start, low power

Perfect solution for my Ford Excursion 02. The car handled poorly and climbed hills with low power while towing my 9000lb caravan. The Ford thief kept it for a week, charged me $75 and had no idea. During the last "won't start" I read a comment on a forum that said disabling the ICP (jet timing pressure) sensor would set the computer to default pressure and if it then started it would diagnose the problem . I climbed under the hood where I was stuck, turned off the sensor and the engine started immediately. The forum commenter also said if there was oil in the plug (I did) then the sensor is definitely defective. The ICP sensor is located at the front on the driver's side of the head. Removal is not an easy task, but I unclipped the air intake tube and moved it to the side. Be careful with the wrench near the back of the generator. I briefly shorted mine to a battery terminal. Either disconnect the batteries or cover the terminal with tape. The OEM sensor uses a 5/8" wrench that attaches to the bottom of the sensor. If you have an adjustable wrench, great; If not, try a regular 5/8 by prying open the back of the alternator with a long screwdriver or other tool. The new sensor requires a 27mm deep socket, which is available at most auto parts stores. If I were to do this on my Ford thief my cost would easily reach $1,000. I saved about $750. My tour has 240,000 miles. This is a fairly common issue for 7.3.
