Review on Standard Motor Products PS308 Pressure by Joe Lara

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My car was a real bug, but the sensor made it.

Not exactly the same as OEM but it fits and solves my check engine light problem. Some things to watch out for - you'll probably need a special deep socket to take the old one off and install this one. If your toolbox is stocked well enough to have the right tools, you don't need advice. otherwise you get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002SR2RY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It was around $8 or $10 I think. Then be sure to check whether there is a strainer or pre-filter for your vehicle. In my case there is a small 1 inch long screen that fits into a slot in front of this sensor to keep debris out of the oil pressure sensor eg: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F679P30/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage ?ie =UTF8&psc=1My feed was full, which was probably the real problem. But despite all the problems, and damn what an asshole he was. Sensor and pre-screen replaced. Mine was an hour of misery, literally on top of the engine, and more than a few bucks in the "curse can." But it saved me a good $400 on mechanics. Without removing the manifold, I was able to connect a few different extensions and insert them one at a time with my fingertips to get just the right length. a swivel and some extensions might also work. but I try to avoid them whenever possible - I've had a few broken threads because it's hard to figure out what's going on with these things. Make sure you start the new threads by hand and don't over tighten when installing the new ones - most engines are aluminum these days and you can cut the threads and damage the threads very easily. I think my car spec was something like 26lb/ft. Finally, there is a silicone rubber gasket that needs to be reused from the old sensor's electrical connector. I got it on the wiring harness, but it can fall out if you're not careful. There's a good chance you can find how-to videos for your machine on YouTube if you want to get an idea of what you're up to.
