If you smoke and smoke in the car or even outside in the dark, this is a great product. The blue light lets you know where to throw the ashes and the snuffbox is perfect for making sure your cigarette butt is out before you throw it, unlike some of the other options where you just put a lit cigarette butt on it throw and it smolders. She smokes, burns other asses and smells like your car forever. The solar aspect means you don't have to worry about putting in a new battery to keep the light running. This is my third of these, they seem to last about 2 years before rattling and rattling in the car when you drain it. and general wear and tear prevents the light from staying on all the time when the lid is open. I think that's a perfectly reasonable life expectancy for a product like this, and you can use it longer if you don't bang it against the side of the bin when you're emptying it like I do. I don't care that the snuffbox area tends to get clogged when the cherry detaches from your cigarette and stays in the snuffbox opening. I have a handle in my car that fits over the smoke hole and knocks it back out, but this can be tricky while driving. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about it, but it doesn't even deduct the stars. That's just one of those facts about smokers' lives. Of the available car ashtrays, especially the lighted ones, this Car Mate solar ashtray is by far the best out there in my opinion. There are some cheap fakes out there and you're going to get frustrated with them and have to replace them in weeks or months, so go ahead, spend the extra $3 and get a better one instead, you won't regret it. ***Just a note for fellow car smokers - if you're not using an ashtray and are just throwing your cigarette butts out the window, PLEASE DON'T! There are all environmental reasons, and in the west there is a serious risk of starting a forest fire. With all the traffic cameras and all, if they find out YOUR ass started wildfire, you'll be broke forever! If you get caught throwing a cigarette out a window in California, that's a VERY expensive ticket PLUS at least a full day of community service in addition to paying for the ticket and at least 2 trips to court. It really isn't worth it, especially when there are easy-to-use and cheap options like this one.
