Review on Bear Grips Shin Guards Sleeves 2.0: 5mm Padded Leg Protection for Crossfit, Rope Climbing, and Deadlifting Activities - No Zipper Design, Multi-Color Options, Available as Single or Pair by Daniel Oliver

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Protection while rope climbing and the expected results of other workouts that put your shin health at risk.

I'll wait and see how the durability will be before giving 5 stars, but it definitely gets a strong 4/5. Durability (N/A) : Too early to tell. I will try to provide an update as soon as I can use them long term. Functionality 4/5: I bought these to protect my shins from rope burns while rope climbing. Before Bear Grips, I wore knee pads around my lower shins to protect them. After about 10 rope climbs I still had a few burns, which then healed in a week. Recently I did the same number of rope climbs but with bear holds. At some point during the workout, I felt the heat dissipate and I worried that I might just have wasted money. However, after a few days, no signs of a rope burn were found. These things did their job. However, as mentioned, I haven't had the opportunity to use many of them. I'm curious to see how the outer material holds up to multiple sessions of rope climbing and bar scraping on deadlifts and various other deadlifts. I've also been a victim of shin kicks from box jumps and I think that while I'd still bruise badly if they had, I wouldn't have gouged any skin. With any luck, more like proper scaling, I'll never be able to check them for shin kicks. Comfort 5/5: light and comfortable. They do not negatively affect my training. Suggested Improvements: By adding a layer of higher density material to disperse pressure during impact, this layer also prevents heat penetration when rope climbing. Overall I would highly recommend them to others.
