Oil change on 2010 Subaru Outback could not remove the filter. I had a socket wrench, pliers didn't work. My car is in the garage, good that I work from home. I ordered the KD Key as "Plan-C". A friend stopped by that evening and we ended up drilling holes in the socket wrench to remove the filter - what a mess. Fast forward to my wife's Subaru. Her oil filter was stuck, the filter neck slipped, but this time it went straight to the KD key. This key even works with tiny Subaru filters. Arrived promptly with no holes in the filter. Note that this requires a 1/2 inch ratchet. If you have a 2010 Outback make sure you have a 1/2 inch extension.
