uncomfortable to use. but it works

i don't think it was very easy to use as it took me quite a while and several tries to get this thing working. The bottom line is that it worked in a spot that was nearly impossible with other oil filter removal tools. I think the strap is too flexible making it difficult to grab the filter.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • i will add later

Gearwench was cheaper.

I have used this tool to remove fuel filters on off road, diesel and heavy equipment. You have to be careful not to crush what you remove. The 1/2" drive fits easily into the base. There is a through hole if you want to use an old screwdriver. Many different brands sell this type of strap wrench. Gearwench was cheaper. Same quality.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Safety

This filter wrench WORKS!

After purchasing four different types of oil filter wrenches for the thrust filter (which was MUCH over tightened on the last oil change) I figured I would have to go with the screwdriver method. Bought this one and regretted not having started with it first! If your filter has completely warped from previous attempts to remove it, this filter wrench should do the job - the strap fits the filter despite the dents and slots of other filter wrenches. Start with that.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Best oil filter tool I've found without a doubt

This was the only tool out of the six I tried that was able to remove the oil filter on the 2014 f150 eco boost, who was in the shop. missed a replacement at least once. I had to use a jackhammer with a ratchet extension too. I've tried a lisle tool and a gear tool that tightened and I've tried oil filter pliers. I've tried sticking a screwdriver in and twisting it, and even putting the crowbar handle through, but to no avail. This is now my number one oil filter wrench and there isn't a filter

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Nothing here

Works at right angles

Some filters work best with an outlet. Some of them work best if you stick a long screwdriver in them. Some work best with a steel band. For filters that are placed so you can only get to the end, and especially where you don't have the right nut (or the nut just comes loose at the end of the filter), this strap wrench (and other similar ones) will work very good, very ok. This is undeniable unless the filter outside is completely filled with oil, and even then I'm not sure. I wish I had bought

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Expensive

Buy It Now! to tools and equipment

Oil change on 2010 Subaru Outback could not remove the filter. I had a socket wrench, pliers didn't work. My car is in the garage, good that I work from home. I ordered the KD Key as "Plan-C". A friend stopped by that evening and we ended up drilling holes in the socket wrench to remove the filter - what a mess. Fast forward to my wife's Subaru. Her oil filter was stuck, the filter neck slipped, but this time it went straight to the KD key. This key even works with tiny Subaru filters. Arrived…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Empty
