Review on Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoids 12655420 Replacement Parts by Henry Brown

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Less than 2 days later (not even new oil) one of them failed and the intake was stuck forward/open!

I can't say enough good things about it other than the ease of installation but it's not so much about this particular part as it is about the fact that the part itself is easily accessible and easy to swap out on the car. Now the big downside. I bought intake and exhaust camshaft solenoids (aka variable speed ventilation solenoid or VVT solenoid) and replaced the faulty part. Unfortunately bank 1 (inlet) gave a code within 48 hours that it was stuck in the extended position. Now my car runs 10 times worse than before replacing the parts. It is important to note that any remaining trouble codes were cleared prior to servicing or replacement. All oil was drained from the car before the solenoids were replaced. After draining the oil I changed the solenoids, changed the oil filter, added 5 liters of fresh oil and changed the spark plugs while having all the black plastic off the top of the engine. So dirty oil never flowed through the solenoids. Before changing the solenoids, my 2010 2.4L Equinox ran at very low idle when stopped and stayed at low idle until I moved again. Currently. If I stop for more than 5 seconds the engine dies completely and runs very rough in 1st and 2nd gear. The "Check Engine" light came on so I checked the DTC (which was previously cleared) as each code will be new now. P0011 and indicated that the VVT solenoid valve bank 1 (intake/front solenoid valve) was high and stuck in the advanced position. Brand new with fresh oil didn't even last two days. Needless to say they will be back and for better quality/OEM I will spend a little more on the next pair.
