This is a 3 piece honing steel that was partially fitted when received.
This honing machine was not delivered fully assembled in its packaging. It consists of 3 separate parts connected with screws: shaft, guard and handle. They were partially/loosely screwed when I received them. I suppose it will take constant effort to keep it from loosening or unscrewing after a few uses. I expected it to be a one piece piece with a molded or composite handle like most honing stones. I have returned this item.
