Using the included wrench to extend or retract the X-Pads has worked great when installing the pads between the tires on my tandem axles. When it came time to remove the "X" pads, the included wrench was useless. When attempting to loosen the pads, the wrench failed to tighten the nut. The edges of the nuts are rounded, which leads to unwinding of the key. I had to use a few channel locks to remove the installed X-Pads. I will say the pads spread out really well to fit in place and retract easily. used to remove it should be installed why is it. A large Cresent wrench might be a better choice than channel locks, but that's what I had at the time I needed to get them off my trailer.
