My first impression is a bit like an old CT-100. This domestically made visor, which cost nearly three times as much, was made in the early 1980s. The supplied eyepieces are excellent, high performance, Kellner eyepieces - 17mm and 10mm types. The focuser needs some reliability, and collimation suffers when quality eyepieces are used. My vision of the find will probably drive up the price, so I just don't go there. The provisions at the base of the sight allow you to put not only the tube itself, but also the attachment system on some sort of durable camera tripod. Bravo to Zulu for the fact that the whole package costs a hundred dollars while others have gone up in price. I will write about some observations later. . The prospect of Leo's triplets was amazing. Magnification is approximately 44x using a 9mm nail. NGC 3628 has shown some evidence of a dusty edge. M-65 and M-66 were bright with signs of asymmetry. Also used Meade 24.5mm. The f/4 light cone was not a problem with these two eyepieces. I felt my eye was working too hard with simpler eyepieces. I installed it on the hood of my truck, but I didn't have access to the galaxies around Ursa Major. M-104 was great, found a dusty edge. I'll build up some legs and improve the viewfinder situation. Using a long Cheshire collimator, it is easy to see that a small focuser will need spacers 120 degrees apart. Without them, max performance is limited to less than 50x. Assembling a 35mm viewfinder from old binoculars. The system can use multiple pipe rings for rotation. The price has gone up, so buy the z130. Update 2: Apply several layers of 3m masking tape to the top spacer of the focuser. Mount the entire scope on a sturdy tripod. Used laser viewfinder, but I will put a good 35mm angle viewfinder, possibly with a laser. Many galaxies observed between Leo and Virgo. The collimation was better and the special symmetry of the M-104 could be seen. Easily upgrade to 200x with a Barlow lens. The Nagler eyepiece makes this an excellent system. Tests are complete giving it another star for physical design and overall optical performance. Pathetic focuser upgrades are required, but they can be made. Thus, its positive aspects (price, optical superiority, eyepiece quality) compensate for some difficulties of placement in the super eyepiece system (the tube wall is thin despite being steel, which affects focus collimation when using heavier eyepieces). Recommended for those who can travel a bit away from light pollution. The Cheshire eyepiece offers fundamental performance improvements. You can rotate your car to access different parts of the sky without the need for a tripod.
