Better if broken!

I didn't like this stone when I first received it. The ceramic side was too rough and the diamond side stopped working after a few uses; Have been sitting idle for a few years. But after a particularly hot hike, it became the best little pocket sharpener I've ever had! All I had to do was break it in half! About a year ago I dropped a diamond steel plate. Apparently this is a known issue on older DC4s and I think this DC3 had the same bug. I was ready to throw this thing in the woods but decided that a double-sided ceramic stone is still better than nothing. I used an old pocket knife and some sandpaper to scrape off the glue (but after checking online others found out about this "hack" and recommended nail polish remover). I then used the diamond side to polish the other side of the ceramic to a less aggressive grit. I now have a polishing side and an aggressive ceramic side by default! I also have a diamond plate to hold my polish. It should lose 1 star because I literally had to smash the stone to unlock its true potential. But if they sold it as a "system" they could charge me double that and I'd happily pay for what I have now. Now I understand why people like this little rock; difference between day and night. Remember what should be the first thing to do after you receive it? There is "break"!
