Review on Libbey Province 16 Piece Tumbler Rocks by Doug Hinrichsen

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Dramatic deterioration

I have had a set of Libbey glasses of the same type for over 5 years. Some of them eventually broke so it was time to look for a replacement but I liked the style. I was so excited when I was able to buy the exact same glasses! But the other reviews are right - the quality has gone down and they suck. First, weight. The numbers don't seem like much, but the difference is huge. Tall glass now looks incredibly fragile and cheap. Weight of the old tall glass: 13.7 oz. New tall glass weight: 10.2 oz. Weight of an old short glass: 11.2 oz. New short glass weight: 9.9 oz. While this doesn't affect functionality (it's a glass, it holds liquids), it looks bad and speaks volumes about the build quality of the device. I don't expect them to last long and one of the short lenses broke in transit (but I only needed tall glasses so no big deal). The attached photos show the new sloping bottom glasses on the left and the old glasses on the right. I would pay more to get the same quality glasses as my old set. I think I should try something else.
