We just installed this cat door. It took less than 40 minutes and is just amazing. We have a small house and I am pregnant now. We have been using the litter box for two years now. Of course I didn't want my baby crawling around in cat boxes and we always had to keep the hall door open for the cats. The clasp is a bit stiff at first and takes a while to soften up and stop getting stuck in weird positions. But we've saved a lot of money so far by not having to open the garage door to let our cats in and out during the day as long as our back door was open to the outside. It took some training initially to get the cats in and out. They were extremely persistent. We just put her paws in the cat flap and lightly nudged her ass. Finally, after three days of trying, they finally got in and out on their own. It was worth it. Now our cat boxes are in the basement, we don't smell anymore and I don't have a litter box in the hall anymore and I don't have to worry about the baby crawling around. Be patient with your cats and continue to gently persuade them from both sides. You really need two people for this. One to push the cat and the other to push it back the other way. Practice several times a day and you should feel good in three to five days! This is an amazing cat door, very sturdy, beautiful and we love it!
