Had to slam the door of my 98 Chevy 1500 2 or 3 times to close it. The door sagged at least an inch. I have side steps on my truck so it was difficult to get the bottom pin out of the ground. Spray some lube and have someone rock the door up/down to take the weight off the pin while you knock it out with a hammer. The top pin is easy to press. Remove the old bushings with a screwdriver and a hammer. I used two jack stands, a jack and my 10 year old son to hold the door. If you wish, you can disconnect the wiring and move the trunk, it's not difficult. After removing the door, clean all hinges and jambs. I pierced all the holes with a file to lightly tap off rust and dirt. Insert the bushing by hand and tap it lightly with a ball-point hammer to keep it from falling out. Use the clamp to push the bushing into place until it bottoms out against the clamp. Tap lightly with a ball-point hammer until flush. I used lube to install the bushings. I had problems with the bottom bushing on the bottom of the door. I couldn't get my clip in the tight spot on either door. I slightly widened the hole in the lower bushing with a file, oiled it and tapped it with a hammer. Of the two I cracked a socket flange. A small piece is broken, but a lot can still be used. Anyone who says "break them". Terrible operator error. The one that says "They don't fit." Not filed, cleaned, lubricated and pressed with a clamp. Don't drill any holes. Take your time pinching it. Make sure the bushing fits straight in. If not, stop and adjust the clamp. In the worst case, file the holes lightly with a few strokes. Do not exaggerate. Both sockets are different sizes. So don't confuse them. You will not pull out a pressed bushing without destroying it. Order an extra kit if you lose a part. Rags in the joint, we lost the pin on the firewall. Top pin - head down. Lower pin - head up. I bought 4 sets from another website. Revain's price was significantly lower and delivery of the same part was faster. My door seems to fly through the air. So softer. No more the madman who kept slamming the door in the parking lot.
