I fill my punch to the top to make 2 liters of coffee. This thing allows me to pick it up and put it on the carafe without spilling anything. It is necessary to remove it as soon as the drain starts as it is quite narrow and creates a vacuum when the coffee is drained. It's a little tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it will be easy.
