Disappointed: Tow Bar

I have had very good experiences with similar products in the past where they designed the hitch to use the existing hitch support holes. A hole must be drilled for each fastener in this design. I wasn't worried as I had previously done the type of work required. The first hole that the instructions tell you to drill is through the drain plug. The drain plug is a rubber bushing about 1 inch in diameter. From now on, the instructions will tell you to line up all the other holes. The hole is too large to position the tow hitch precisely on the centerline of the vehicle. But at least you can use it to hold the hitch in place while aligning it with the correct points. At this point things got a little more complicated. I could not locate the hitch without removing the bumper cover (lower rear body panel) from the car. To find all of the fasteners holding the bumper fascia I recommend a factory manual and a full set of sprockets. Luckily I have both because I service my car. Once the cover is removed you can access the bumper, measure and properly locate the hitch and holes. Drilling a second hole in the spare wheel well is not a problem. Sheet metal is relatively easy to cut. After several hours of trying to drill one of the two holes in the bumper, I decided to return the hitch. The steel of the bumper is VERY hard. The instructions recommend special tools or carbide drills. I tried carbide bits because I have a set. I don't know what her instrument is made of, but I'm done. I added a hitch so I could reuse my existing rear bike rack. I will be buying racks to match with roof rails. I gave it two stars because the description fails to warn the buyer that this is not a project that can easily be undertaken by the average professional who loves this type of weekend work. . If you really need this hitch, I recommend a professional installer.
