I bought a 7 inch single camera monitor and installed the camera on top of the back of my 17 foot camper trailer. The camera is about 8 feet off the ground. With the suggestion of others in the reviews here, I turned on the camera by tying it to the parking lights. I wanted to see behind me at a reasonable distance and be able to see the rear bumper. You really can't do that with a single camera, splitting the difference was an unfortunate way. I bought a second camera, set it to channel two and focused it sharply down so I could see the rear bumper and a few feet beyond. This is useful when backing up to a place with a tree or something in the background. I can see exactly how close I am. Also, a long-range camera may miss a child or toy just behind the RV, but this one will definitely see it. After switching off and on again (e.g. to stop for gas) the monitor always switches to the first channel, so this is my long-range camera. I see almost everything behind me that is not visible in the side mirrors. I've thought about adding side cameras, but so far the two rear cameras combined with my side mirrors show me everything I want. must see it. I'm towing a 2014 Honda Pilot and I place the monitor on the center console in front of the cup holders. I don't need the mount that comes with the monitor. The antennas on the cameras are located just above the top of the RV at the rear and the monitor antenna is just above waist height in the pilot. I was worried there might be signal issues, but I've put it on for hundreds of miles at over 70mph with no issues. It is also very convenient for changing lanes. The camera can see part of the lane next to you, making it very easy to see if the rear of the camper is behind the front of the car you just passed. I did the installation myself, it's not difficult. I connected the camera to the monitor before installing the camera on the camper. I connected the monitor to a 12 volt plug on the dash and connected the camera cables to the battery terminals under the hood. The screws connecting the camera to the mounts are tiny and non-ferrous (non-magnetic), so I put a tarp on the ground in case I drop the screw. The only thing I dropped was the washing machine and the tarp helped me find it quickly. I installed them early in the season so I used the winter cover as a tarp. Overall I am very happy with the product and the installation. ************** ********************************** ** ************** ************************** In a few years new trailer, new tractor, new camera and monitor.***** ******************************** *** **** ************* ***************************** * ******* **Due to unrelated events, our RV has been replaced with a new, slightly longer trailer. The tow truck has been replaced with a Honda Ridge cable that is also a few feet longer. The overall length is about 4 feet more. The old cameras and monitors stayed with the sale of the old mobile home. So I bought a new pair of single camera and monitor. The new camper came pre-fitted with a different brand monitor and camera mount which is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive. . The factor mount is not suitable for the Yuwei camera and makes it difficult to install the Yuwei camera in a roof-level position on the back. I used a piece of steel and made a bracket on the spare tire holder so the camera is right above the spare tire. . It is easier to install the work on the ground than on a ladder. I'm only using one camera this time, so I adjusted it so that the bottom of the image is about 5 feet from the rear bumper, which also gives you a good view of the traffic behind you. I hooked up the camera to the left rear position light with no problems and with good results. A difficulty with new configurations. Sometimes the signal disappears when driving at a speed of around 70 miles per hour. It lasts a few seconds and then comes back. I was able to partially solve this problem by re-attaching the monitor to the rearview mirror (there are handy loops on the back of the monitor, grab a 3/4" velcro and it's easy to toggle on and off) which elevates the monitor so fewer "trucks" would block the signal. There was still some signal loss at higher speeds, but it was less frequent and recovered faster. I didn't notice any loss of signal at lower speeds. Still happy with my choice, still 5 stars.
