The tool has a square shape and a precise ruler. On the other hand, using the tool is dangerous. The horizontal scale is razor sharp and the dot at the end of the 45 degree angle is very sharp. I almost cut my finger with it. You must use fine sandpaper and gently knock down the sharp edges and points to make it safe to use. The holes for the parallel line location are in millimeters while the rest are in inches. I'm not sure why it was designed that way. The holes are too big to make accurate parallel marks. Even a carpenter's pencil with a thick lead has room to move in the holes, making the markings less accurate.
