Review on 🚲 Thule 963PRO Spare Me 2 Bike Spare Tire Bike Carrier - Secure & Convenient Solution for Biking Enthusiasts by Joseph Adaymiln

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sturdy, well-made bike carrier for cars with rear-mounted spare wheels.

I have had Thule trunks in the past and they have proven to be very well made, durable and functional so compared to other cheaper products I ordered this unit with no problems as I really believe that saying. that everyone gets what they pay for. I installed this rack on the back of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and the installation was easy and the instructions are pretty good. Appropriate hardware is included to adjust the width of the various spare tires, but you will likely need two or more installation attempts with different combinations of hardware to get the correct setting. The trunk holds two bikes and has rail mounting trays. to accommodate gears and brake cables, which is very nice. This will prevent the top tube from rubbing on the cables and damaging the bike's finish. The rubber bands that attach the bike to the rack are thick, of good quality, and will withstand the stress of being pulled around the bike's corresponding tube. Because the block is attached to the spare tire, or more specifically the spare tire holder, my tailgate is fully functional and can be opened with a full range of motion. (I've checked hitch-receiver mounted bike racks, but couldn't find one that allows full use of the tailgate without at least partial disassembly or removal.) It also comes with a locking system to secure the unit to the spare tire. and a cable lock system for attaching bikes to the luggage rack. Both locks use the same key. However, the cable is only long enough to attach to the frame and not long enough to run through the wheels. If you are worried about quick release bikes being stolen, you will need to purchase a second cable lock to secure them. The carrier's arms, which extend outward to hold bicycles, fold down when the carrier is not in use. This is handy because the stand takes up less space in this orientation and is less likely to injure a clumsy like me who might otherwise trip over it. I haven't learned how to rotate my hands to the storage position and it's difficult to get them out of the use position. On the other hand, it bodes well that the device will remain durable even with prolonged use. On the other hand, the device rattles a bit in the storage position, even when firmly attached to the tire and the levers are securely locked. It's not a big deal for people with a hard top or soft top, but since I only ride the Safari top on my Wrangler, the rumble is a little annoying as I hear it while driving. There are 5 stars for the well-made and practical bike rack, minus 1 star for the annoying rattling. If I could rate the device 4 1/2 stars I would as it is a minor downside.
