I bought it to scan my college textbooks for teaching purposes. I use the scan as a multi-page PDF, scan the pages for a chapter, and then use the Adobe Acrobat DC trial to preview the document, which then converts it to searchable/selectable text. From there, I can have Windows or another program read text aloud when I'm feeling lazy or trying to do chores. If you have your textbooks and don't plan on selling them back (textbooks depreciate much faster in value these days as most classes use e-books) this is a great learning tool and an overall time saver for students!
