Works with a large gap of no more than 1 inch.

I bought this one because it was supposed to have long reach, well it does. My door ended up with a gap of almost an inch. So I put mine as far away as I could. And when I installed the latch on the door, I put two washers between the door and the latch to make it stand out more. The lock stretched, almost didn't click or sway. The only problem I see is that it's definitely not a secure lock, at least not on my door. Anyone can put their hand between the door and the wall through the large gap and open the lock. But it will keep an honest person from being accidentally spotted while someone is changing or, you know, rocking the bed. :)
