Good experience with some caveats

Ok where do I start? My impression of this lamp is mostly good. Its design looks great on my new 17 gallon rimless tank. The arm flexes smoothly and the lantern itself appears to be well constructed. The body of the flashlight is very thin. It sticks securely to the tank glass. One of the screws will feel wobbly when screwed into the hole in the flange, but will hold up well when screwed all the way in. On/Off is located on the back of the device, on the handle on the cable, and on the remote control. The switch on the device must be on for the other on/off switch to work. The cable control also has 4 lighting modes that you can use; cloudy, thunderstorm, sun and moonlight. They are also available with other options on the remote control; Max this is basically a sunny choice of 4 lighting modes, 24/7 mode and then there are color controls for your own color creations. You can save 4 of them. For example, the directions are pretty bad, yes, probably the worst translation from Chinese to English. It's especially difficult when I'm trying to make sense of the colored buttons, like I know what they're getting at, kinda? Anyway I can make the colored buttons work for me, it helps to have experience in the art and knowing the color wheel. If you play with it enough, you can get blue, green, purple, some kind of gold, orange-red, pink, etc., and you can mute, boost, darken and lighten them to some degree. It's really cool, but not everything is that intuitive. Clicking on a color doesn't give you that color, it's just a matter of manipulating the selected color you start with. You can take Cloudy, Sun and Moon modes and adjust their color, brightness and intensity and then save them in four memories. The light I got is definitely bright enough. The 24/7 cycle works in the demo and each time button shows the light that will be at that time and I think the lighting changes slowly as the 24 hour cycle goes through. I haven't used it yet. I'm in the process of setting up a tank after not having one for years. I wanted the clip in the light because I didn't want to cover the top of my rimless tank. After reading the reviews it seemed like this is something to try in this price range. I think if I'm in the mood, everything will be fine. I think.
