Review on 🚲 Topeak QR Beam Rack MTX Bike Rack: Optimal SEO-Enhanced Bicycle Rack by Jason Cho

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nicely built stand but could use a few small design changes.

Received the trunk yesterday and drove it 53 miles today. The trunk worked well: it didn't rotate on the seatpost and held the DX trunk bag perfectly. The Type E Beam Rack is the right size for a medium-sized Specialized frame; It should also work with similarly sized frames from other manufacturers. Mine goes all the way up to the seat post and there's plenty of room under the rear wheel stand. When I attached it to my bike last night and tested it, I found that when my left leg was in the rest of the eccentric arm it was rubbing against my inner thigh. Pedaling was fine, but I was concerned that if I stopped frequently it would start to rub. I could also feel a little bit from the other side. I tried raising the post but that didn't change anything - it just rubbed at a higher spot. I pushed the seat forward a bit, that didn't help much either. What I do now is point the quick release lever almost straight up. It's not ideal, but since I don't want a permanently installed rack, that's enough for now. There has to be some other way to design this system so that it doesn't rub as much. However, I will admit that I never noticed any clipping after 53 miles, but I was also pedaling most of the time. Time. The frame never moved while driving. I didn't load the bag too heavily, but the rack seemed very secure. Closing this quick-release lever is a chore, especially for the first few times you use it. Rubber seals must be properly installed. What I did do was smear some light oil on the underside of the quick release lever where it contacts the cap it's pushing against and that helps a bit. However, if you want your posture to stay in place, you really need to crank it up. I don't see how an allen wrench can help as in my case if you try to turn the bolt with a wrench the eccentric arm rotates. Despite these minor issues, this is a well-made rack and the DX bag snaps in nicely. . He's stronger than he looks, but doesn't exceed his weight limit. And only use it on a metal seatpost - I could see it easily crushing a carbon fiber seatpost.
