USB-C hub with iPad Pro 12.9 " 2018

I was looking for a USB-C hub compatible and working with the latest iPad Pro (2018) after upgrading iOS to the latest version iPadOS (aka iOS 13) Public Beta 4. The product description says this USB-C hub is not compatible with iPad Pro 2018, but my update to the latest iPadOS/iOS 13 beta shows otherwise was important that the USB-C hub had Power Delivery (PD) charging (with 30W PD for my iPad Pro) it would be compatible with my Samsung T5 SSD external hard drive and I could use a hub to charge my iPad Pro to connect to my mechanical keyboard via a wired USB connection. I also wanted a hub that would show promise for the next USB-C laptop I get from Apple. (I'm currently using a 15" Retina MacBook Pro without USB-C). I am happy to report that everything works very well and stably with my iPad. I've attached images for the different settings I use with my iPad Pro (with the smart case on a table and in landscape and portrait modes on a metal stand). The USB-C hub's design is lightweight yet durable, with a beautiful "space gray" aluminum finish. The included pouch has a separate inner sleeve to house the attached cable, which is a nice touch to avoid scratching the hub. I also tested an iPad with its HDMI connection to a 1080p monitor. It worked well and mirrored what the iPad was showing. (I couldn't test the VGA connection and I don't have a higher resolution monitor.) I noticed that my mechanical keyboard (Micro USB to USB-A) only worked when plugged into USB 3.0 ports, not on a USB port 3.0. USB 2.0 ports. Pros: (1) Sturdy construction but light weight for portability. The hub's cable entry/connection point looks well reinforced and should last (although with heavy use, time will tell). , work stably. (3) Extra 6 months warranty, total 18 months if you subscribe to the official website. (4) USB 2.0 extension cables included. (5) Rubber feet on the bottom to make the hub stationary. Cons: (Most of these are for my individual use case, not all of them) (1) A slightly longer cable would be great to allow the hub to lay flat on a table to fit in an iPad's landscape orientation (but I get it that it was designed primarily for laptops and shouldn't be a problem for most). The length is suitable for iPad portrait mode. (2) No other color options like silver to match computer or iPad (not a problem for me as I use skins on my devices). (3) For the iPad Pro, I'd like to see a 3.5mm audio/mic port on the hub as it's gone on the 2018 iPad Pro. Not a problem for me as I use Bluetooth headphones anyway. But it would be nice to have a fallback. (4) An additional USB-C port for more than just charging PDs would also be nice. If I had to rate this hub for my individual use case as it meets all my needs I would give it a 4/5. Judging it strictly on build quality, various connectivity options to suit most people's needs, support from the company behind their product, and reliable performance, I'd give it a 5/5.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
