Review on ๐Ÿ”ง GEARWRENCH 1/2inch Drive Electronic Torque Wrench 30-340 Nm | Model 85077 by Christopher Clearfield

Almost perfect for torque wrenches

This is a very good tool. Being able to measure both torque and angle is impressive! And SnapOn's value proposition is clear. BUT, I encountered a scaling problem. The Gearwrench version of this tool, which does not measure an angle, has a torque of up to 10Nm. Unfortunately, the lowest torque on this device is 10 ft-lbs or 13.5 Nm. Half of the fasteners under the hood on my F-150 require 10Nm to be properly tightened. My oversight in the specs means I need two torque wrenches or some other product. This one should be back because it can't do everything I imagined. So damn close. The SnapOn version reduces the torque to 5 Nm. Maybe I should have spent more. Maybe I should have poured out the specs more. But they clearly like to show "10" on all products. Check out these units! Sometimes they are really important.

Pros
  • Handle and body are oil and solvent resistant, protecting the tool from harmful substances and keeping hands in place
Cons
  • Good, but not great
