I bought this because my good valve spring compressor gave up the ghost after 15 years of faithful service and my reserve didn't work on the heads I rebuilt. This one was cheap and had lots of adapters. Putting it together wasn't difficult, just choose the size of the collet, attach the pusher screws and find something to attach it to the valve as the point on the pusher could damage it. I used a flathead puller. The variety of collets is nice, but they tend to move along the latch and can damage the latch's clips, so you have to be extra careful with them, I've had to reconfigure them several times each spring. The handle that rotates the pusher and collet falls out A LOT. I must have picked that thing off the ground dozens of times. My advice is buy another one with a real compressor, it might cost more but they are much more convenient to use. It took me twice as long to remove all the valve springs as it did on my old one.
