We use them under the canopy we used to cover our patio. They're not super bright, but they're enough to illuminate our entire patio and the atmosphere is pleasant. They have a really cool old world look and feel. I love big globes with visible threads. Ideal for illuminating outdoor areas without getting so bright that it's difficult to see. I love that they give you extra bulbs and the base is standard E12 so you can swap it out for any type of bulb you want. They haven't been exposed to rain so I can't comment on how waterproof they are but I'm sure they will do fine. They seem to be of a higher quality than some of the others I've bought from local stores.
