The gloves are waterproof but their heat retention/insulation is very limited. So they're bulky because they're waterproof but not warm given their volume (if that makes sense). So in terms of the Utility I don't think that's much - $55 definitely not worth it Waterproofing is required in the Pacific Northwest winter as the cold rain makes hands very cold, but they aren't warm enough for it to matter without gloves I would have cold wet hands and not cold dry hands but I still have cold hands!
