They are being sold at a very high price BUT these are very well made and not cheap Chinese steel pans. They are made in Italy by artisans and it shows. Thick bottom and really nice details. Stainless steel takes a bit of getting used to, but once you learn how to cook with it (heat the pan slowly, keep it on medium heat, etc. etc. etc.) you'll love the peace of mind that comes with throwing away the horrible non-stick surfaces that leach who knows what into your food. I will never cook with nonstick again. We have a very nice set of Viking stainless steel cookware that we have used for many years. They really do look a lot better with nice details and finishes. They won't seem like easy-care pots if you're the type of person who "puts everything in the dishwasher." They brush them with either Bartender's Friend or baking soda every time to keep them clean and shiny. I wish they weren't so expensive.
